Goal Posts to Rixon Recreation Ground.

As part of our ongoing support to the Rixon Recreation Ground project the club manufactured and delivered a set of goal posts as an additional facility for those youngsters who, by reasons of age would be excluded from the recently purchased playground.

On an extremely cold day in early December a small team of Rotarians gathered at the workshops of the project leader, Mervyn Rose, to load the posts ready for transporting to Rixon. The day did not start too well when Pip Taylor managed to get the Merlot bogged in up to its axles. This was eventually abandoned to its fate and good old fashioned manpower was used from then on.

Having decided where the goalposts should go, a ball was produced and a practical test carried out. In the end the posts proved to be more robust and resilient than the players who quickly abandoned the game and retired gracefully.

Once again Rotary had identified an area within the community that required its assistance and had come up with the goods.
