History
Paul P. Harris 1869 - 1947 Founder of Rotary International
The
world's first service club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, was formed on the 23rd
February 1905 by Paul P Harris. He wished to recapture in a professional
club the same friendly spirit he had experienced in the small towns of his youth.
The name 'Rotary' is derived from the early practice of rotating meetings
among the offices of the various members.
