Three views of the current face being worked. The familiar Stur Market Place background is identfiable with The Swan on the right. After much advice from local farmers, Peter hopes that he has got the calf carrying technique correct.

29 July 2006
10 July 2006
This face is proving to be the most complicated so far.  As you can see most of the background buildings are now visible and Peter has started articulating the foreground. The farm cart is particularly complicated to carve but there is no doubt that the finished product will equal the high standards achieved on the other two completed faces.Stur Bridge completedPeter has completed another magnificent compilation of Sturminster's heritage portrayed by the ancient town bridge together with it's importance as the centre of the dairy industry in Dorset.
Work is now progressing on the very intricate 3rd face that depicts the market being held in the Market Square at the turn of the last century. Some of the existing buildings, including the Swan Inn, will be recognisable in the design.

4th July 2006.

With only the lettering to complete on the initial face,  Peter has now begun to carve the second face which depicts the town bridge and a single cow.
